Making the most of your network: Follow-up

Thanks to everyone who braved the rain and came to China Networker and REV's networking training session last night.

During the presentation, I mentioned that getting everyone in your network online can really be a boring task, something which I would provide on ChinaNetworker.com rather than including in the presentation proper. You can download the files below!

I also mentioned some useful tools for organising your network:

  • Twitter - Twitter is a "microblogging platform," ideal for keeping up-to-date with your friends' statuses and letting people know what you're looking for or what you need help with. In my case, I try to keep Twitter for my closest contacts only. Unlike Facebook, I don't have my playmates from kindergarten added, meaning I only see the updates from people I can co-operate with.
  • LinkedIn - LinkedIn is an online business networking platform. When you sign up you can invite your contacts to join your network and see who is in their network too. This makes it much easier to search out useful leads, opportunities or employers and a well-thought-out LinkedIn invite is also a great way to follow up.
